Since 2020, more than 16,500 students from Karachi University’s morning, evening, and executive MBA programs have failed to pay over Rs2.1 billion in fees, according to a recent meeting.
The university is concerned about the growing unpaid fees and has decided to stop defaulters from taking exams. They will not issue admit cards until the fees are cleared.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of canceling the enrollment and degrees of graduates who haven’t paid their fees.
One faculty member raised concerns about rising tuition fees and suggested that the university should ask the government for financial help.
Many students have reportedly dropped out due to financial difficulties, especially after the economic challenges caused by the pandemic.
