A rare albino buffalo in Bangladesh has become a national sensation after it was nicknamed “Donald Trump” because of its unusual blond tuft of hair. The nearly 700-kilogram animal gained massive popularity on social media just before Eid-ul-Adha 2026, with people comparing its hairstyle to that of the US President.
The buffalo was originally bought for sacrifice during the Eid festival. However, huge public interest and large crowds at the owner’s farm raised security concerns. Bangladesh’s Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed stepped in at the last minute and ordered the animal to be spared. The buyer was fully refunded.
Instead of being sacrificed, the buffalo was moved to the Bangladesh National Zoo in Dhaka (Mirpur Zoo). It now lives safely there and has become a star attraction for visitors. Zoo officials placed a sign reading “White Buffalo (Donald Trump) – Albino Buffalo” near its enclosure.
Owner Ziauddin Mridha said the name was given affectionately by his younger brother. The story has brought smiles across the country and even drawn international attention. Many people are now visiting the zoo to see the famous buffalo, which enjoys special care, including cooling fans during the hot weather.
This heartwarming case shows how social media can sometimes save lives and create unexpected celebrities.
