Punjab could face an extreme heatwave in the coming days, with temperatures in some areas potentially climbing as high as 55 degrees Celsius, according to a warning shared by Murad Raas. The alert has sparked concerns over public health, electricity demand, and the risk of heat-related emergencies across the province.

The soaring temperatures are expected to affect several districts, especially southern and central Punjab, where intense sunshine and dry weather could make outdoor conditions dangerous. Authorities have urged residents to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun during peak afternoon hours and to remain hydrated.

Health experts have warned that prolonged exposure to such intense heat may lead to heatstroke, dehydration, dizziness, and exhaustion, particularly among children, elderly citizens, and people with existing medical conditions. Citizens are advised to wear light-colored clothing, drink plenty of water, and seek shade whenever possible.

The severe weather could also increase pressure on the province’s electricity system as the demand for air conditioners and cooling appliances rises sharply. Officials are encouraging the public to use electricity responsibly to help reduce the strain on the power grid.

Local administrations and emergency services have been instructed to stay prepared for any heat-related incidents. Hospitals and rescue teams are expected to remain on alert to respond quickly to emergencies during the expected heatwave.

While weather conditions can change, authorities are closely monitoring the situation and will continue issuing updates if necessary. Residents are encouraged to follow official weather advisories and take all recommended precautions to protect themselves and their families.
