arah Gillis, an astronaut with SpaceX’s Polaris Dawn mission and an accomplished violinist, has made history by releasing a unique music video from space.
On September 13, 2024, Gillis performed “Rey’s Theme” from Star Wars: The Force Awakens while floating in zero gravity aboard the Crew Dragon spacecraft. Titled “Harmony of Resilience,” the video features Gillis playing the violin in a weightless environment, offering a stunning and one-of-a-kind performance.
The video also incorporates footage of orchestras performing on Earth, highlighting the connection between music across different locations and emphasizing the importance of collaboration and hope.
This inspiring release aims to unite people globally and support two significant causes: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which assists children battling severe illnesses, and El Sistema USA, which promotes music education for youth.
