The World Bank has evaluated the progress of the $400 million “Higher Education Development in Pakistan” initiative and deemed it satisfactory.

Approved in May 2019, this project aims to enhance research capabilities in key economic sectors, improve the quality of teaching and learning, and strengthen governance within higher education institutions.

As of now, approximately 78.5% of the total funds, amounting to $329.93 million, have been disbursed. The project is set to conclude on June 30, 2025, and is expected to play a crucial role in transforming Pakistan’s higher education landscape.

With its focus on quality improvement and governance, the initiative seeks to equip universities and colleges with the necessary tools to produce graduates who can contribute effectively to the country’s economic growth. The World Bank’s assessment underscores the positive impact this funding has already made and its potential for future development in Pakistan’s education sector.
