Pakistan’s textile exports have seen a notable rise of 10.44% in the first four months of the 2024-25 fiscal year. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, exports from this sector reached $6.146 billion, compared to $5.565 billion during the same period last year.

The country’s total exports also grew significantly, reaching $10.889 billion in these four months—a 13.55% increase from $9.590 billion the previous year. In October 2024 alone, exports stood at $2.984 billion, up 5.22% from September and 10.97% higher than October 2023.

Textile exports continue to drive this growth, with October’s figures rising by 13.11% to $1.625 billion compared to $1.437 billion in October last year. However, challenges remain in cotton yarn exports, which dropped 45.59% in the four months to $221.76 million.

Despite this, October saw a 13.83% month-on-month increase in cotton yarn exports. Meanwhile, rice exports have surged, growing by 52.53% to $1.084 billion over the same period, with a notable 40.88% rise in October alone.

Key contributors to October’s export figures include knitwear, readymade garments, rice, and bedwear. While cotton yarn continues to face challenges, Pakistan’s textile sector has performed strongly, supported by value-added products like garments and other items, as well as impressive growth in rice exports. These trends highlight the sector’s resilience and its crucial role in the country’s export performance.
