PAKISTAN’S TECH GIANT NAYATEL STARTED AS A SMALL PC SHOP, MICRONET, IN ISLAMABAD

by Hameed

Nayatel, one of Pakistan’s leading telecom companies, started 26 years ago as a small PC shop named Micronet in Islamabad. The company was founded by Saad Saleem, Aqeel Khurshid, and a third co-founder, who left their government jobs to follow their dream of launching a startup. Interestingly, the original Micronet logo, hand-drawn by one of the founders, still represents their early vision and dedication.

One of the founders had taken a six-month graphic design course during his student days. While he wasn’t a professional artist, the course taught him the basics of fonts, color combinations, and design principles. These skills later became essential in shaping Nayatel’s branding and played a key role in its success.

The founder believes that skills developed through hobbies or passion projects can often have the greatest impact on one’s career.

He encouraged others to pursue work that aligns with their passions or, at the very least, to find ways to bring their interests into their professional life. According to him, this not only enhances job satisfaction but also opens doors to greater opportunities and personal growth.

Nayatel’s story is a reminder of how passion, determination, and learning new skills can turn small ideas into remarkable achievements. It also highlights the value of staying connected to your roots and using your unique talents to make a difference.
