Pakistan and Malaysia have taken a major step forward in their long-standing friendship by signing new agreements and trade deals worth $200 million.
These include a significant meat import agreement and several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in key areas such as higher education, tourism, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), Halal certification and anti-corruption cooperation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya to discuss ways to deepen collaboration between the two nations.
Both leaders expressed their commitment to strengthening ties in modern sectors like information technology (IT), artificial intelligence (AI), agriculture and defence. The meeting reflected a shared vision of promoting innovation and mutual growth through joint efforts.
Malaysia also announced plans to expand rice imports from Pakistan and make it easier for Pakistani companies to export beef to Malaysian markets. These initiatives aim to boost trade, create more business opportunities, and promote sustainable economic relations.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for his strong leadership and dedication to empowering youth and building stronger regional cooperation.
He also appreciated Malaysia’s support for Pakistan in different international forums and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to further developing bilateral relations.
Both sides agreed to continue exploring new areas of collaboration that benefit their people and economies. The renewed cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia marks a new chapter in their friendship, focusing on progress, mutual respect, and shared prosperity for the future.
