PIA Partners with Riyadh Air to Expand Global Cargo Operations

by Mahnoor Arif

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has entered into a new strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia’s emerging carrier, Riyadh Air, to strengthen and expand its global cargo operations. The agreement, which came into effect on October 29, is part of PIA’s broader effort to boost freight capacity, diversify logistics routes, and increase overall revenue.

Under this partnership, cargo shipments from Pakistan and London will now be routed through Riyadh, using both airlines’ extensive networks to ensure faster and more efficient global distribution. This collaboration is expected to improve delivery timelines and enhance trade connectivity between Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

The move comes as global demand for air freight services continues to grow. PIA aims to capitalize on this trend by modernizing its cargo operations and offering businesses a reliable alternative for international shipments.

PIA already maintains a strong cargo partnership with British Airways, handling nearly 1,000 tonnes of UK cargo each year. The new alliance with Riyadh Air marks another milestone in its effort to expand into new markets and build a more sustainable aviation logistics network.

By partnering with Riyadh Air, a fast-developing airline positioned to become a major player in the Middle East, PIA is not only strengthening its global presence but also contributing to Pakistan’s economic growth through enhanced trade and transportation links.

This strategic collaboration signals a promising future for PIA’s cargo division and the aviation industry at large.
