Pakistan’s Quaid-e-Azam University Signed MOU with UK’s University of Cambridge

In a major step toward advancing scientific research and innovation, Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Cambridge, UK, to promote collaboration in Materials Science and Emerging Technologies.

The partnership aims to enhance Pakistan’s research capabilities, strengthen academic excellence, and encourage international cooperation in rapidly evolving scientific fields. It will also provide opportunities for faculty exchange, joint research projects, and knowledge sharing between both prestigious institutions.

The MoU was signed during an official ceremony held in London on Friday, which was attended by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and representatives from both universities.

Alongside this, another important agreement was signed between Cambridge Enterprise Ltd, UK, and the Pakistan Institute for Development Economics (PIDE), Islamabad. Cambridge Enterprise Ltd, an affiliate of the University of Cambridge, focuses on commercializing research and fostering innovation-based growth.

This second agreement seeks to support Pakistan’s innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem, helping transform academic research into practical solutions for national development.

Speaking at the event, Minister Ahsan Iqbal praised the collaboration as a significant milestone in Pakistan-UK educational and research ties, emphasizing that global partnerships like this are vital for achieving the country’s long-term vision of a knowledge-driven economy.

The MoU marks an important step in bridging research and innovation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, paving the way for greater scientific advancement.
