Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah has created history by reaching a major milestone in international football, moving ahead of legendary players Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of goal contributions.
During Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal match against Ivory Coast, Salah scored an important goal that helped his team progress. With this goal, he reached a total of 100 combined goals and assists for the Egyptian national team. He achieved this remarkable record in just 111 international matches.
Salah’s international record now stands at 65 goals and 35 assists across his appearances for Egypt. What makes this achievement even more special is the speed at which he reached it. He needed fewer matches than both Messi, who reached 100 goal contributions in 122 games for Argentina, and Ronaldo, who took 136 matches for Portugal.
In football history, only two players have reached this landmark faster than Salah. Brazilian legends Pele, who did it in 77 matches, and Neymar, who achieved it in 94 matches, remain ahead of him.
Salah’s performance once again shows his importance to the Egyptian team. His leadership and consistency have played a key role in guiding Egypt into the semifinals of the Africa Cup of Nations. Over the years, he has remained the team’s main attacking force and continues to deliver on the biggest stages, further strengthening his legacy as one of Africa’s greatest footballers.
