Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Karachi is moving closer to becoming a lifeline for thousands of cancer patients in Sindh and Balochistan. Once completed, the hospital is expected to ease the heavy burden on patients who currently have to travel long distances for treatment.

According to the hospital administration, around Rs 9 Arab is still required to complete the Karachi project by December 2026. Construction work is ongoing, but timely funding remains the biggest challenge. Without public support, delays could affect the hospital’s ability to start operations as planned.

The Karachi hospital will be the third Shaukat Khanum facility in Pakistan, after Lahore and Peshawar. Like the other centers, it aims to provide state-of-the-art cancer care, with a strong focus on treating poor patients free of cost. A large portion of patients at Shaukat Khanum hospitals receive treatment through donations, making public contributions a key pillar of the project.

Once operational, the Karachi center will offer diagnostic services, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgical care under one roof. It is expected to significantly reduce waiting times and improve access to quality cancer treatment for patients in the region.

Shaukat Khanum officials have appealed to individuals, organizations, and overseas Pakistanis to contribute generously. Every donation, big or small, brings the hospital closer to completion and gives hope to families fighting cancer.

With collective effort, the Karachi hospital can be completed on time and continue the mission of providing hope, dignity, and care to those who need it most.
