Pakistan has taken a significant step toward improving animal welfare with the launch of Woofy, the country’s first dedicated mobile application designed for animal rescue. The app aims to make reporting and responding to animal emergencies quicker, easier, and more organized.
Woofy allows users to report injured, abandoned, or abused animals directly through their smartphones. Users can upload photos, share the exact location, and provide basic contact details, helping rescuers understand the situation before reaching the site. This system reduces delays and improves coordination between people who spot animals in need and those who can help.
One of the app’s key features is its ability to connect users with animal rescuers, veterinarians, and clinics in real time. After a report is submitted, users can track the rescue progress and receive updates, creating transparency and trust in the process. This also helps rescue teams prioritize cases based on urgency.
The platform’s developers have also announced plans to introduce dedicated transportation services for rescued animals in the near future. This would address one of the biggest challenges in animal rescue, which is safely moving animals to clinics or shelters on time.
Currently, Woofy is available in Islamabad and Rawalpindi and can be downloaded on both iOS and Android devices. However, there are plans to expand the service to other major cities across Pakistan.
Animal welfare advocates have welcomed the initiative, calling it a positive move toward organized and community-driven animal care. Woofy represents a growing awareness of animal rights and responsible action through technology.
