Qatar has called for calm and coexistence between Gulf countries and Iran, even after recent Iranian attacks in the region.
In a clear statement, Majed Al Ansari, spokesperson for Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, said: “Iran has been there for thousands of years. No one is going anywhere. Total destruction is not an option.”
He stressed that people and countries in the region must learn to live together as neighbours. “We will live side by side. We will be neighbours and find ways to coexist,” he added. Al Ansari described the current situation as a very difficult moment but said there is still a way forward through dialogue and understanding.
Qatar’s position comes amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. Iran has carried out attacks on several Gulf targets, including areas in Qatar, which caused damage to infrastructure and the economy. Despite this, the Qatari spokesperson made it clear that erasing any country or pursuing total destruction is not realistic.
Qatar, which maintains good relations with both the West and Iran, has repeatedly urged all parties to choose diplomacy over war. The country is not directly mediating between the US and Iran but supports all efforts to reduce tensions and bring peace.
This message from Qatar reflects a practical approach shared by many Gulf states. They believe long-term stability in the Middle East can only come when neighbours accept each other’s existence and work together to solve problems peacefully.
