Punjab’s health sector is getting a major boost this year, with a 17% increase in funding. The government has allocated Rs. 630.5 billion to improve public healthcare across the province.
This new budget aims to make healthcare more accessible and better in quality for everyone, especially for people in remote and underprivileged areas. One of the main projects is the “Maryam Nawaz Clinic on Wheels” program, which will receive Rs. 3.5 billion. These mobile clinics will travel to different areas and provide medical services to people who cannot easily reach hospitals.
Another important initiative is the Universal Health Insurance Program, with Rs. 25 billion set aside to help people receive treatment without worrying about high costs. This program ensures that every citizen, especially the poor, has access to medical services when needed.
The Chief Minister’s Children Heart Surgery Program will also receive Rs. 3.2 billion. This will help children with heart conditions get life-saving surgeries and proper care.
In addition, Rs. 14.5 billion has been allocated for the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research in Lahore. This institute aims to provide advanced treatment to cancer patients, offering them hope and high-quality care close to home.
These budget decisions show the government’s commitment to improving health facilities in Punjab. With better funding and focus on key programs, the province hopes to offer better medical care, reduce health inequalities, and ensure a healthier future for all its people.
