MG Pakistan has pointed out that hybrid vehicles in the country are often priced much higher than petrol cars, which makes it harder for customers to justify the fuel savings.
The company explains that in global markets, hybrid cars are considered a smart choice when their prices are no more than 10% higher than similar petrol models. But in Pakistan, the price difference can go up to 45%.
This large gap makes buyers question whether switching to a hybrid is worth it, especially when fuel savings take longer to balance out the higher cost of the vehicle.
However, MG also notes that real-world comparisons in Pakistan show that the price difference is often between 10% and 15%. Buyers of hybrid vehicles are not just paying for fuel savings but also for added features such as advanced safety tools, modern infotainment systems, and better overall technology.
MG is promoting its HS PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) as a smart and affordable option for people who mostly drive in cities. The HS PHEV offers the benefits of both electric and petrol power, giving users better mileage and a smoother driving experience without the high fuel cost.
The company believes that as awareness grows and more options become available, hybrid cars like the MG HS PHEV will become more popular in Pakistan. It also encourages car buyers to look beyond just fuel savings and consider the extra value hybrid vehicles bring in terms of features, comfort, and cleaner driving.
