Has State Bank of Pakistan Launched New Rs 1,000 Currency Notes?

by Ammnah

A video circulating on TikTok and other social media platforms has caused widespread confusion among Pakistanis, falsely suggesting the release of a “new” Rs 1,000 currency note. The clip, which features what appears to be a redesigned version of the note, quickly went viral, racking up over 10 million views within a day and sparking intense debate across Facebook, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter).

Many viewers assumed the State Bank of Pakistan had quietly issued a new note without making an official announcement. The video was widely shared, with many believing it to be an authentic update.

However, these assumptions are incorrect.

The creator of the video, a social media user known as @BlogsbyUsama, later clarified that the design was part of a personal project he created in 2024. Despite his explanation, the video continued to circulate, fueling more confusion and speculation.

In response, the State Bank of Pakistan issued an official statement, denying the release of any new Rs 1,000 currency note. The central bank emphasized that any changes to the national currency would be announced only through its verified platforms, including its website, official social media channels, and accredited news outlets.

The SBP also urged the public not to spread unverified or misleading information, especially on sensitive matters like national currency. For now, the redesigned note remains just a viral video — not an official update.
