Alert Issued! Water Level in Rawal Dam in Rawalpindi Nears Danger Mark

by Hameed

The water level at Rawal Dam has gone up to 1,749 feet, which is very close to its danger point of 1,752 feet. Because of this, the authorities have issued a safety warning and asked everyone to be careful and follow instructions.

To keep the dam safe and reduce the rising pressure, the spillways will be opened early in the morning at 6 a.m. They will stay open for about five hours to release extra water safely. This will help lower the water level and prevent any possible flooding in nearby areas. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said the water level was at 1,748.40 feet when last measured and could rise more if rain continues.

People living near the dam, especially in low-lying areas, have been told to move to safer places for their own protection. Rescue teams are ready to help families shift if needed and to make sure everyone stays safe during this time.

The public has also been warned not to visit the dam for leisure activities while the spillways are open. People should not go close to the edges for walking, fishing, or even taking photos, as the fast-flowing water can be very dangerous and accidents could happen.

Officials say they are keeping a close watch on the dam’s condition and will share updates if there are any changes. People are requested to listen to the warnings, stay away from risky areas, and stay alert until the situation is under control and safe again.
