After successfully adding electric buses to the city’s roads, Lahore is now getting ready to launch electric trams as part of its public transport network. An Orange Line spokesperson shared that this move is another big step toward eco-friendly and modern travel for the people of Lahore.
These new electric trams are being imported from China and will help reduce pollution while making daily travel easier for commuters. The trams are designed with advanced technology that lets them run 25 to 27 kilometers on just a quick 10-minute charge.
Each tram will have three compartments and enough space to carry up to 250 passengers at a time, making them a good option for busy routes and crowded city areas. The aim is to provide a comfortable and clean travel experience for thousands of people every day while cutting down on harmful emissions from traditional vehicles.
Right now, work is already underway to assemble these electric trams at the Ali Town Depot. Engineers and workers are busy getting everything ready so the new trams can be added to Lahore’s transport system soon.
City officials hope that adding electric trams, along with the existing electric buses, will help make Lahore’s public transport system more modern and environmentally friendly.
This plan is part of a larger vision to bring cleaner, greener, and smarter travel options to Pakistan’s big cities. Residents are hopeful that these improvements will make daily commutes better while protecting the environment for future generations.
