Iran’s President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian has arrived in Pakistan today for a two-day state visit, his first official trip since taking office. His visit comes during a time of increased tensions in the region.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is hosting the Iranian president. During his stay, President Pezeshkian will take part in talks with Pakistani leaders and their teams. He will also visit the Iqbal Mausoleum in Lahore to pay his respects.
According to the Foreign Office, this visit is expected to boost ties between Pakistan and Iran. Pakistan has said it is open to supporting peaceful talks and wants to help bring stability to the region.
Government officials also made it clear that Pakistan’s strong ties with China remain solid. They said Pakistan will keep playing its part in peace efforts and regional cooperation alongside its trusted partners.
There has been no confirmation yet about any new trade or energy deals between Iran and Pakistan. However, both sides may discuss future opportunities to work together in these areas.
While in Pakistan, President Pezeshkian will also hold meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and other senior officials to talk about matters of mutual interest.
This visit is seen as an important chance for the two neighbors to strengthen their relationship and find ways to work more closely in the future. Many hope that the meetings will lead to better understanding and stronger cooperation between the two countries.
