by Hameed

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has introduced a new electric bus service in Mianwali, describing it as an important step to improve public transport in areas that have been left behind for years.

The service will be run by the Punjab Transport Company and will operate “Electro Green Buses” on routes connecting Daud Khel, Bin Hafiz Ji, and Wan Bhachran.

According to officials, this project is designed to provide safe, reliable, and affordable transport for local communities. The fare for passengers has been set at just Rs. 20, making it affordable for daily commuters.

Each bus has been fitted with modern features such as air-conditioning, free WiFi, automated ticketing systems, and special facilities to help persons with disabilities travel more comfortably.

During the launch, CM Maryam Nawaz said that providing modern and eco-friendly travel options to smaller districts is a priority of her government. She stressed that such projects are not only aimed at improving convenience for people but also at protecting the environment by reducing fuel use and cutting air pollution.

The new service is expected to make a big difference in the daily lives of people living in Mianwali and nearby areas. For many, it will be the first time they can travel in buses with facilities that match those available in major cities.

This project is also part of a bigger plan to expand electric transport across Punjab. Recently, the Chief Minister confirmed that 100 more electric buses are on their way from China and will be sent to districts including Okara, Nankana Sahib, Muzaffargarh, Vehari, Pakpattan, and Dera Ghazi Khan.
