Palestine’s Only Athlete Muhammad Dwedar to Participate in World Athletics Championships

by Hameed

At the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Palestine was represented by just one athlete Muhammad Dwedar. Competing in the 800-meter race, Dwedar carried the hopes and dreams of his people onto the global stage.

His journey to this competition was far from easy. With no proper training facilities in Jericho, where he lives, Dwedar had to prepare in the simplest way possible — by running on the streets. Despite these challenges, he never gave up on his dream of wearing his country’s name and competing against the best in the world.

Speaking after the race, Dwedar shared that his biggest dream is to win a medal for Palestine one day. He also revealed a personal motivation

to continue his late father’s dream of seeing him succeed in athletics. For him, every step on the track is not just about sport but also about love, memory, and national pride.

Looking ahead, Dwedar’s journey is far from over. His next challenge will be at the Islamic Solidarity Games in November, where he hopes to perform even better. For now, he continues to inspire many by showing that sports can be a voice of hope for Palestine.
