Mari Energies Limited has announced a significant oil and gas discovery at the Mari Ghazij CFB-1 exploration well in Sindh, giving a boost to the country’s energy sector and future potential. On the energy front, Pakistan much needed this positive news.
The newly discovered site is expected to produce 305 barrels of oil every day along with 3 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of natural gas. While these might sound like technical numbers, what they really mean is more local energy production and less dependence on expensive imports.
The exploration well was drilled on September 12, 2025, and reached a depth of 1,195 meters before striking oil and gas. What makes this discovery even more exciting is that it’s the second oil find in the Mari Ghazij region, suggesting there could be more reserves waiting to be tapped in the area.
Mari Energies CEO Faheem Haider was understandably pleased with the results. He took the opportunity to praise the company’s geoscientists and technical team for their hard work and expertise. He also emphasized the company’s continued commitment to supporting Pakistan’s national energy goals and working toward greater energy security.
Interestingly, this discovery comes at a time when Pakistan’s State Bank reserves have also increased by $20.7 million, adding to the positive economic news.
Every bit of domestic oil and gas production helps reduce the country’s import bill and strengthens the economy.
