In a landmark development for Pakistan’s education and technology sectors, Imperial College London is set to establish its first-ever campus in the country at Nawaz Sharif IT City, Lahore.
The announcement was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, where she reviewed progress on several major initiatives including the Central Business District (CBD) and the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) projects.
The new Imperial College London campus aims to provide world-class higher education opportunities and foster innovation in science, technology, and research. The project will also feature a 300-bed state-of-the-art teaching hospital, enhancing healthcare accessibility while providing practical training facilities for medical students.
According to officials, the groundbreaking ceremony for the campus will take place in November 2025, marking the beginning of a new chapter in international academic collaboration.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed all concerned departments to expedite development work and ensure that the Ravi River bund is completed ahead of the next flood season to safeguard ongoing infrastructure projects.
This initiative is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s educational landscape, attract global partnerships, and position Lahore as a rising hub for higher education, technology, and innovation in South Asia.
