Punjab CM Announces Rs 100 Billion Package for Flood Victims

by Mahnoor Arif

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has unveiled a landmark Rs 100 billion rehabilitation package to support flood victims across the province. Recent monsoon deluges left thousands of families without homes, crops or basic amenities. This massive fund marks one of Punjab’s largest relief efforts in recent memory.

Under the Flood Victims Rehabilitation Programme, each affected household will receive cash grants for essentials like food, clothing and medical care. The amount will be scaled to family size and damage assessments, ensuring fair distribution. Government teams will inspect homes and farms to fast-track payments so families can start rebuilding immediately.

To make claiming funds easier, the CM announced free transport services. Buses and vans will ferry flood-hit families from remote villages to relief centres for grant collection, counselling and health check-ups. This initiative removes travel costs and logistical hurdles, ensuring no one is left behind.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif stressed transparency at every step. “Every rupee will be transparently used for victims’ welfare,” she affirmed, noting that independent audits, public dashboards and real-time digital tracking will safeguard the treasury. A dedicated helpline will handle queries and grievances to promptly resolve any issues.

Highlighting Punjab’s self-reliance, the CM clarified that all relief and rescue operations were launched without foreign aid. Local agencies, NGOs, volunteers and district administrations are distributing food packs, setting up temporary shelters and running medical camps in the worst-hit areas.

With swift action, clear oversight and strong community cooperation, Punjab’s new package aims to restore normalcy for thousands of families. The government’s commitment sends a message of solidarity and hope as communities rebuild stronger than before.
