CM Maryam Nawaz Launches Punjab’s First Health and Safety Initiative for Special Children

by Mahnoor Arif

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the province’s first-ever health and safety program dedicated to special children. The initiative marks a major step toward inclusive development and better care for children with special needs. It aims to provide them with equal opportunities for education, health, and personal growth across Punjab.

As part of the program, over 35,000 students will receive free medical screenings, dental checkups, and eye examinations. Those requiring further medical attention will be referred to specialized hospitals for treatment. The campaign also recorded more than 5,000 new enrollments through a door-to-door admission drive, ensuring that no child is left behind.

The initiative goes beyond healthcare by focusing on education and safety. New computer labs and digital skills training are being introduced to help special children learn modern technology. These steps aim to prepare them for a more independent and confident future in today’s digital world.

To strengthen safety and monitoring, over 4,000 CCTV cameras are being installed in special education centers. This move will help maintain a secure environment and assist teachers and staff in better supervision. The Punjab government’s comprehensive plan highlights Maryam Nawaz’s commitment to creating an inclusive and caring society.

This groundbreaking initiative reflects a vision of empowerment, equality, and compassion. By addressing both health and education needs, Punjab is setting a new standard for the welfare of special children across Pakistan.
