Meta, the American technology company that owns Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, has officially launched its artificial intelligence assistant Meta AI in Urdu for Pakistani users.
This groundbreaking development aims to accelerate Pakistan’s digital transformation by making advanced technology accessible to millions of Urdu-speaking citizens who may not be comfortable using English.
The launch was announced at a special event called “Future in Focus: AI and Innovation” organized in collaboration with Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication. This partnership between a global tech giant and the Pakistani government demonstrates commitment to bringing cutting-edge technology to the country.
The Urdu version of Meta AI enables users to interact with artificial intelligence in their native language, asking questions, seeking information, and using AI tools without language barriers. This makes technology significantly more inclusive for the majority of Pakistan’s population.
Beyond just launching Meta AI in Urdu, Meta introduced several educational initiatives to support Pakistan’s digital development. The company launched the AI Literacy Programme, which has already trained 350 university teachers from non-computer science backgrounds.
This training enables educators across different disciplines to understand and teach AI concepts to their students, spreading AI knowledge throughout Pakistan’s education system. Additionally, Meta announced the Government Digital Transformation Xperience 2025 program, designed to help public institutions modernize their services and operations using digital technology.
These initiatives collectively strengthen AI education, encourage innovation, and improve digital services across Pakistan. By offering Meta AI in Urdu and investing in education programs, Meta is helping ensure that Pakistan’s digital future includes all citizens, regardless of their English proficiency, and prepares the country to participate fully in the global AI revolution.
