PIA Holding Confirms Transfer of Precision Engineering Complex to Pakistan Air Force Subsidiary

by Mahnoor Arif

Pakistan International Airlines Holding Company Limited has officially approved the transfer of its Precision Engineering Complex to a Pakistan Air Force-owned subsidiary as part of a major restructuring plan. The transfer to Precision Engineering Complex (Private) Limited will become effective from May 1, 2025, following approval from the government and endorsement by shareholders at an Extraordinary General Meeting held on October 25, 2025.

The Precision Engineering Complex, which was previously an integral part of Pakistan International Airlines, is a highly specialized facility that manufactures high-precision aerospace and engineering components.

The complex has built an impressive international reputation over the years, supplying sophisticated aircraft parts and components to some of the world’s leading aerospace companies including General Electric, Airbus, and Boeing. This demonstrates the exceptional quality and precision standards maintained at this Pakistani facility.

The primary objective of this transfer is to streamline PIA Holding Company’s operations by separating non-core businesses from its main aviation activities. By moving the engineering complex under Pakistan Air Force ownership, the facility will benefit from military-industrial management expertise while allowing PIA to concentrate on its airline operations.

The Pakistan Air Force brings extensive experience in aerospace technology and engineering, making it ideally positioned to manage and potentially expand this valuable asset.

The CEO and Company Secretary of PIA Holding Company have been authorized to complete all necessary legal documentation and regulatory filings required to finalize this transfer.

This restructuring represents a significant step in the ongoing reorganization of Pakistan’s aviation sector, aimed at improving operational efficiency, reducing financial burden on PIA, and ensuring specialized facilities operate under appropriate management structures that can maximize their potential and competitiveness in global markets.
