In a major milestone for Pakistan’s energy sector, the country has received its first-ever shipment of crude oil from the United States. The historic delivery arrived at Cnergyico’s offshore Single Point Mooring (SPM) terminal in Balochistan, carried by the Suezmax vessel MT Pegasus.
This development marks a new chapter in Pakistan–US trade and energy cooperation, signaling a stronger partnership between the two nations. According to Cnergyico Vice Chairman Usama Qureshi, two more shipments are scheduled for November 2025 and January 2026, which are expected to boost Pakistan’s trade balance by nearly $200 million.
The SPM terminal, a state-of-the-art offshore facility, allows for the safe and efficient handling of large oil vessels. This not only reduces logistics costs but also enhances the country’s refining capacity by ensuring a steady and diverse supply of crude oil.
Experts believe that importing US crude will help diversify Pakistan’s energy sources, making the country less dependent on traditional suppliers. It also reflects a growing effort to strengthen bilateral economic relations and promote long-term energy security.
By expanding its supply network and refining operations, Pakistan is taking a proactive step toward stabilizing its energy market and reducing vulnerabilities to global price fluctuations.
The arrival of the US crude oil shipment is therefore more than just an energy deal, it’s a symbol of progress, partnership, and a forward-looking economic strategy for Pakistan.
