Former Iraqi goldsmith and calligrapher Ali Zaman has achieved an extraordinary milestone by completing the world’s largest handwritten Quran in Istanbul, after six years of continuous dedication and hard work.
The handwritten Quran measures an impressive 4 meters in length and 1.5 meters in width, making it a true masterpiece of Islamic art. Zaman wrote every word by hand using traditional reed pens and the elegant thuluth script, a classical style known for its beauty and precision.
Zaman moved to Türkiye in 2017 and began working on the project soon after. Despite facing health challenges and having no external financial support, he remained committed to completing his dream. He personally funded the entire project, showing remarkable passion, patience, and faith throughout the journey.
His creation is not only a work of religious devotion but also a tribute to the rich heritage of Islamic calligraphy. It represents centuries of tradition carried forward through dedication and craftsmanship.
