Punjab Food Authority Launches Nutritious Fruit Bars For School Children

by Mahnoor Arif

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA), in collaboration with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), has launched nutrient-enriched fruit bars designed to promote healthy snacking among schoolchildren. The initiative aims to tackle child malnutrition and encourage better eating habits across the province.

According to PFA Director General Asim Javaid, the project focuses on providing children with balanced nutrition through safe and innovative food options. He emphasized that improving children’s diets is essential for their physical growth, learning ability, and overall well-being. The fruit bars have been developed to offer a healthier alternative to processed snacks that are high in sugar, salt, and unhealthy fats.

These new fruit bars are enriched with essential vitamins and minerals, making them a convenient and accessible choice for students. By introducing this product in schools, PFA hopes to raise awareness about the importance of good nutrition and reduce the risks associated with poor dietary habits.

The initiative also reflects a broader effort to partner with global organizations and use science-backed food solutions to address malnutrition. With the launch of these fruit bars, the Punjab Food Authority aims to support long-term health improvements for children and inspire schools to adopt better nutrition practices.

This program marks another step toward building a healthier future for students across Punjab.
