Punjab has moved a step closer to cleaner and more sustainable transportation with the opening of a new electric three-wheeler manufacturing plant in Raiwind. The initiative marks a major development in the province’s transition toward eco-friendly mobility solutions.
The facility was inaugurated by Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, who toured the production line and inspected various stages of electric rickshaw manufacturing. The plant is expected to boost local production capacity, reduce reliance on fuel-based vehicles, and create new job opportunities in the growing EV industry.
Speaking at the launch, the minister highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting green initiatives. He confirmed that Punjab’s new Electric Vehicle (EV) policy will be unveiled soon, aiming to encourage both manufacturers and consumers to adopt cleaner transport options. Alongside this, work is already underway on an environment credit policy, designed to promote sustainable industrial practices and reward eco-friendly innovation.
With rising fuel prices and increasing environmental concerns, electric three-wheelers offer an affordable and practical alternative for daily commuting and commercial transport. The new plant is expected to accelerate EV adoption, lower carbon emissions, and contribute to a healthier urban environment.
The launch reflects Punjab’s broader vision of becoming a leader in clean mobility, setting the foundation for a future where electric rickshaws and other EVs become common on the province’s roads.
