The Punjab government has announced plans to introduce a modern public transport system in Faisalabad, including 27 metro buses and two trams running along the new 20-kilometre Orange Line corridor. The line will connect Jaranwala Road to Jhang Road, creating a faster, more efficient option for daily commuters in the city.
The project will feature 22 stations, two depots, and several U-turns, making it accessible from multiple key points across Faisalabad. Authorities have already instructed utility departments to begin relocating services along the route to ensure smooth and uninterrupted construction.
Chief Minister Mariam Nawaz is expected to inaugurate the project, which is being hailed as a major step toward improving urban mobility in the city. Once operational, the Orange Line is anticipated to reduce traffic congestion, shorten travel times, and provide a safer, cleaner, and more reliable transportation option for thousands of daily passengers.
City planners have emphasized that integrating trams with metro buses will not only provide diverse commuting options but also promote eco-friendly transport, reduce dependency on private vehicles, and enhance overall traffic management.
The initiative reflects a growing focus on modern infrastructure and urban development in Faisalabad, aligning with broader efforts in Punjab to improve public transit and quality of life for residents. With improved connectivity and convenience, the Orange Line is expected to become a vital part of the city’s transport network, benefiting both workers and residents while supporting sustainable urban growth.
