Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Nawaz Sharif has expressed pride in his brother and daughter, stating that they have surpassed him in serving the public.

Speaking after the recent by-election victories, Nawaz Sharif praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, saying they had surpassed him in public service. He described his brother as loving and supportive, adding that he helps as much as he can.

The PML-N president credited the party’s electoral success to the performance of both leaders. “Shehbaz Sharif is a loving brother; I help as much as I can. The people voted for us on the basis of performance,” he stated.

Nawaz Sharif also reflected on Pakistan’s economic situation. He recalled that in 2017, Pakistan was progressing rapidly with inflation at just 3 percent during his tenure, but “they pushed the country toward bankruptcy”. He said if the pace of development had continued, Pakistan would have held a strong position globally.

“The inflation remained at 3 percent during my tenure, but the current situation has left Pakistan dependent on IMF decisions,” the PML-N president said. He added that the entire nation is bearing the consequences of the previous government’s actions.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also spoke at the gathering, saying that people now clearly understand the difference between slogans and real performance. She noted that her father is the only person in Pakistan’s history to become prime minister three times, yet faced conspiracies in every term.

She claimed that when her administration took charge, Pakistan was being labeled as a potential defaulter, but today inflation has dropped significantly. Maryam credited the PML-N’s track record of delivery in every era and expressed confidence in the party’s bright future.
