Babar Azam Equals Saim Ayub in T20I Record of Most Ducks

by Mahnoor Arif

Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has reached an unwanted milestone in T20 international cricket. He now shares the record for the most ducks in T20Is, with 10 scoreless dismissals, the same number recorded by Saim Ayub and Umar Akmal. According to official cricket statistics, Babar reached this mark after playing 125 matches.

The comparison shows how differently each player arrived at this number. Saim Ayub reached 10 ducks in only 50 innings, making his ratio the highest. Umar Akmal recorded the same figure in 79 innings. Babar, however, took much longer to reach 10 ducks, showing that his overall performance has been more stable over the years.

Babar’s latest duck came during Pakistan’s chase of 185 against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi. Fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera trapped him LBW after just two balls, sending shockwaves through the stadium. His early dismissal immediately increased pressure on Pakistan’s middle order, and many fans expressed disappointment on social media.

Despite the setback, cricket experts believe this is just a temporary dip in form. Babar has delivered strong performances in the past and remains one of Pakistan’s most reliable batters. With the ongoing tri-series and the 2026 T20 World Cup approaching, he will have several chances to regain confidence and deliver match-winning innings.

Fans hope that Babar will bounce back quickly, proving once again why he is considered one of the best modern-day batters. For now, all eyes remain on his upcoming matches and how he responds to this challenge.
