The Punjab government has decided to take firm action against weddings that violate the one dish rule or play loud music late into the night. The decision came during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, where top officials, including commissioners and deputy commissioners, were told to ensure full compliance across the province.
The one dish rule has existed for years, but many events continued to ignore it. The new order urges strict checks at marriage halls, farmhouses, lawns, and open venues. Officials said the rule will now be applied without any exceptions. The aim is to control wasteful spending, maintain discipline at events, and reduce disturbance for nearby residents.
Another focus of the meeting was noise pollution. The chief minister directed authorities to act against the unnecessary use of loud music and illegal loudspeakers. Many weddings continue music late at night which creates problems for families living in surrounding areas. The government wants this issue handled seriously, and action will be taken against any venue that ignores the rules.
The meeting also approved tighter monitoring of wedding hall timings. Event managers will be required to follow closing times strictly. Any hall that stays open beyond the allowed time may face fines or temporary closure.
Officials said these steps are meant to create a more orderly environment during the busy wedding season. They believe that better enforcement will help both event organizers and the public by keeping celebrations smooth and disturbance free.
