The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced plans to build a state-of-the-art international cricket stadium in Islamabad, with an estimated cost of Rs 12 billion. The project aims to modernize the capital’s sports infrastructure and enhance Pakistan’s ability to host major international cricket events.
The proposed stadium will be located near Sector D-12, at the foothills of the scenic Margalla Hills. It will have a seating capacity of 25,000 and feature a three-tier structure with separate sections for general spectators, VIPs, and shaded seating. The design also includes improved crowd management systems to ensure a smooth and safe experience for fans on match days.
Officials revealed that the stadium will include advanced facilities such as Dubai-style Ring of Fire LED lighting, modern roofing systems, and world-class amenities for players and visitors. The infrastructure is being designed to meet international standards, allowing Pakistan to attract top-level cricket tournaments in the future.
The project is expected to provide a boost not only to cricket but also to tourism and local businesses, as fans from across the country and abroad visit Islamabad for matches. Authorities said that the stadium will create new employment opportunities during construction and after completion.
CDA officials emphasized that the development aligns with Pakistan’s broader plan to improve sports facilities nationwide. Once completed, the new stadium will position Islamabad alongside other major cities in the world capable of hosting international cricket events with modern, comfortable, and safe facilities for fans and players alike.
