Lahore Traffic Police have issued e-challans worth around Rs 23 lacs to a local motorcycle dealer after thousands of traffic violations were recorded against bikes registered in his name. The case came to light through Safe City Authority CCTV cameras, which captured repeated violations across different areas of the city.

According to police officials, the dealer, identified as Sadiq Khan, has nearly 500 motorcycles registered under his name. These motorcycles were involved in a total of 2,071 traffic violations, including speeding, signal breaking, and other rule breaches. All these violations were automatically recorded by surveillance cameras and converted into electronic challans.

The matter drew attention when a traffic warden stopped one of the motorcycles at Campus Bridge. After checking the registration details, the warden issued an on-spot e-challan of Rs 12,000. Further investigation revealed the large number of bikes linked to the same owner and the huge amount of unpaid fines.

Police officials shared that Sadiq Khan runs a motorcycle business where he sells bikes on easy installment plans. Many buyers use the motorcycles before the ownership is officially transferred to their names. During this period, any traffic violation is recorded against the registered owner, not the rider.

Traffic police have advised vehicle dealers to transfer ownership immediately after sale to avoid legal and financial trouble. Authorities have also warned that monitoring through Safe City cameras will continue, and no exceptions will be made for repeated violations.

This case highlights the importance of proper registration, responsible selling practices, and strict compliance with traffic laws to ensure safety on Lahore’s roads.
