Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a new government plan to send Pakistani students abroad for advanced training in artificial intelligence. Under this initiative, selected students will study in leading institutions across Europe and China to gain modern AI skills that are in high demand globally.

Addressing a Laptop Scheme ceremony in Haripur, the prime minister said that student selection will be strictly based on merit. He stressed that talented youth from all provinces will be included, with special mention of students from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to him, equal opportunities will be provided so that deserving students, regardless of their background, can benefit from the program.

The prime minister highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence in shaping the future economy. He said countries that invest in advanced technologies today will lead the world tomorrow. By training Pakistani students in AI, the government aims to build a skilled workforce that can contribute to economic growth, innovation, and job creation back home.

During his speech, Shehbaz Sharif also referred to the government’s Laptop Scheme, calling it a successful initiative. He said the scheme has empowered more than one million students since 2013 by improving their access to digital tools and learning resources. According to him, technology access and skill development go hand in hand.

He encouraged students to focus on education, discipline, and hard work, saying the nation’s progress depends on its youth. The AI training program, he added, is an investment in Pakistan’s future.

The initiative reflects the government’s broader vision to prepare young Pakistanis for global competition and ensure they are equipped with modern, future-ready skills.
