Easypaisa Board Chairman Irfan Wahab Khan has said that Pakistan’s biggest challenge in the technology sector is not a lack of ideas, but limited access to scale and capital. He shared these views while speaking at the Paklaunch Islamabad Meetup, hosted in collaboration with Amazon Web Services at the National Incubation Center in Islamabad.

The event brought together leading founders, investors, and key stakeholders from Pakistan’s growing tech ecosystem. The Islamabad meetup aimed to strengthen connections within the local startup community by creating space for open dialogue between entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, accelerators, and industry leaders.

Irfan Wahab Khan took part in a panel discussion titled “Talent, Capital, and Traction: What’s Holding Pakistan Back?” alongside Faisal Aftab, Founder and CEO of Zayn VC. During the discussion, both speakers highlighted the structural challenges that continue to hinder the growth of Pakistani startups, despite possessing strong technical talent and innovative ideas.

Khan noted that many local startups struggle to move beyond early stages because of limited funding options, weak investor confidence, and difficulties in scaling operations. He stressed the need for stronger capital pipelines, policy support, and global partnerships to help startups grow sustainably.

Speakers at the event also emphasized the importance of mentorship, access to global markets, and collaboration between the public and private sectors. Faisal Aftab pointed out that while Pakistani founders are capable, consistent investment and long-term vision are essential for success.

The Paklaunch Islamabad Meetup reflected growing efforts to build a more connected and supportive tech ecosystem, focused on turning innovation into scalable, globally competitive businesses.
