Pakistan’s Olympic hero Arshad Nadeem has added another major honour to his historic career after being named Global Breakthrough Athlete of the Year at the inaugural World Sports Summit held in Dubai. The award ceremony took place on Monday at Madinat Jumeirah and was attended by leading figures from the global sports community.
The prestigious award was presented by Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It recognises athletes, teams, and organisations that have made outstanding contributions to sports at the international level. Arshad’s achievement was widely praised as a proud moment for Pakistan and South Asian athletics.
The World Sports Summit was organised by the Dubai Sports Council under the theme “Uniting the World Through Sports.” The event focused on sports development, innovation, and the power of athletics to bring nations together.
Arshad Nadeem created history last year at the Olympic Games by winning Pakistan’s first-ever gold medal in athletics. He stunned the world with a massive 92.97-metre javelin throw, breaking the Olympic record and placing Pakistan on the global sports map. His victory ended a long Olympic medal drought for the country and inspired millions of young athletes back home.
Speaking at the event, organisers highlighted Arshad’s determination, discipline, and resilience as key reasons for his selection. His journey from limited resources to Olympic glory is seen as a symbol of hope and hard work.
This latest recognition further strengthens Arshad Nadeem’s status as one of the most influential athletes of his generation and a true ambassador of Pakistani sports on the world stage.
