Bangladesh Airline to Start Direct Flights to Pakistan

by Mahnoor Arif

Pakistan has approved direct flight operations for Biman Bangladesh Airlines, marking an important step toward improving regional air connectivity. The airline has been granted permission to operate direct flights between Dhaka and Karachi for an initial period of three months, valid until March 30, 2026.

The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that Biman Bangladesh Airlines is also allowed to use Pakistan’s airspace for the approved route. These direct flights are expected to make travel easier for passengers, reduce journey time, and strengthen people to people ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Business travelers, tourists, and overseas families are likely to benefit the most from this new connection.

This development comes at a time when Pakistan is actively working to revive and expand its international aviation links. Earlier, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif announced that British airline Norse Atlantic will begin direct flights from London, Manchester, and Birmingham to Islamabad. This move is expected to increase competition and offer more choices to passengers traveling between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.

In another major step, Pakistan International Airlines is set to resume direct flights to London Heathrow from March 29, 2026, after a gap of nearly six years. Initially, PIA plans to operate four weekly flights, which is seen as a positive move toward rebuilding its global image.

Together, these decisions reflect Pakistan’s broader effort to improve passenger facilities, attract foreign airlines, and restore confidence in its aviation sector. The launch of direct flights by Biman Bangladesh Airlines is a positive sign for regional cooperation and improved air travel options.
