Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry visited Jamia Darul Uloom in Korangi, Karachi, where he was warmly received by renowned Islamic scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani and other senior religious figures.
The visit highlighted the strong bond between Pakistan’s religious leadership and military institutions. Mufti Taqi Usmani, one of the country’s most respected scholars and a former judge of the Shariat Appellate Bench of the Supreme Court, led discussions focusing on national unity and security challenges.
During the meeting, religious scholars expressed their complete support for the Pakistan Army’s ongoing efforts to protect the nation and combat terrorism. They acknowledged the sacrifices made by armed forces personnel in defending Pakistan’s borders and maintaining internal security.
Mufti Taqi Usmani particularly praised the military’s dedication and emphasized the importance of unity between religious institutions and defense forces. He stressed that safeguarding Pakistan requires collective effort from all segments of society, including religious scholars, military leadership, and citizens.
Following Friday prayers, special supplications were offered for Pakistan’s integrity, peace, and prosperity. The scholars prayed for the continued success of military operations and for the safety of soldiers serving on the frontlines.
This visit reflects the military’s ongoing engagement with religious institutions to strengthen national cohesion. Such interactions are considered important for building consensus on security matters and countering extremist narratives.
The warm reception at one of Pakistan’s most prestigious religious seminaries demonstrates the mutual respect between religious scholarship and military leadership in working toward common national goals.
