Pakistan International Airlines has entered into a strategic cargo partnership with Air France KLM, marking an important step toward expanding its international freight operations. Under the agreement, Pakistani exporters will be able to ship goods across Europe and the United States using a single air waybill, making the process faster and more efficient.
The partnership connects PIA Cargo with the Air France KLM network through key regional hubs in Dubai, Riyadh, and Dammam. From these hubs, shipments can reach major global destinations such as Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt, New York, and Los Angeles. This expanded access is expected to improve delivery timelines and provide exporters with greater flexibility when targeting international markets.
The agreement comes at a significant time for PIA, following its recent privatisation. The airline has been working to strengthen its operations, improve service quality, and rebuild confidence among international partners. The resumption of direct flights between Islamabad and Paris has already helped improve connectivity between Pakistan and Europe, and this cargo partnership further supports that momentum.
Industry observers say the collaboration will benefit Pakistan’s export sectors, including textiles, pharmaceuticals, perishables, and manufacturing. Easier access to global markets can help businesses reduce logistics barriers and compete more effectively on an international scale.
PIA officials stated that the partnership reflects the airline’s renewed focus on commercial growth and global integration under private sector management. By aligning with a major international carrier group, PIA aims to enhance its role in supporting trade, travel, and economic exchange, while positioning itself as a reliable cargo partner in the global aviation market.
