Pakistan has unveiled its latest hypersonic missile, SMASH, at the World Defence Show 2026 in Riyadh, signaling a major advancement in the country’s defence capabilities.

Developed by Global Industrial and Defence Solutions (GIDS), the missile is designed to perform both anti-ship and land-attack missions, offering a versatile solution for modern military operations.

SMASH is equipped with dual-role capability, featuring high-speed flight, precise guidance, and near-vertical attack, making it highly effective against sophisticated air and missile defense systems.

Analysts note that this combination of speed and accuracy ensures that the missile can strike targets efficiently while reducing the risk of interception.

The missile’s payload varies depending on the mission. The anti-ship version carries a 384-kg warhead, while the land-attack variant carries 444 kg, providing significant firepower for a range of operational needs.

With a maximum range of 290 kilometers, SMASH is intended to address emerging threats in high-risk regions and fulfill the growing demand for long-range precision strike weapons.

Experts highlight that SMASH also simplifies logistics and reduces operational costs, offering a modern solution for tactical challenges.

Its development demonstrates Pakistan’s continued commitment to strengthening national defense and technological expertise, showcasing local innovation in advanced military systems.

The unveiling at Riyadh’s World Defence Show 2026 has attracted international attention, with defense analysts praising Pakistan’s ability to combine speed, accuracy, and versatility in a single missile system.

SMASH represents a strategic addition to Pakistan’s arsenal, reinforcing its position in regional defense technology while emphasizing self-reliance in cutting-edge military solutions.

This milestone underlines Pakistan’s growing capabilities in advanced weapon systems and its ongoing focus on enhancing national security.
