Breakthrough! Pakistan Becomes First After Korea to Locally Produce CKD Hyundai Palisade

by Mahnoor Arif

In a major boost to Pakistan’s auto industry, Hyundai Nishat Motors has announced local CKD production of the all new Hyundai Palisade.

With this move, Pakistan becomes the first country after South Korea to assemble the award winning 7 seater SUV.

CKD, or completely knocked down production, means the vehicle will be assembled locally from imported parts. Industry experts say this step strengthens Pakistan’s manufacturing footprint and signals rising confidence in local engineering capabilities. It also expands Hyundai’s premium vehicle lineup in the country.

The new Palisade will feature a 2.5 liter turbo hybrid powertrain, offering improved fuel efficiency along with performance. It comes equipped with advanced driver assistance systems, Nappa leather interior, dual sunroof, and modern infotainment technology.

The SUV is positioned to compete in the growing premium segment, where demand for feature rich vehicles has increased in recent years.

According to company officials, bookings will open in March 2026. Public display of the vehicle is scheduled for June, with deliveries expected to begin in August.

Automotive analysts believe local assembly of high end models reflects gradual stability in the sector after a challenging period marked by import restrictions and production slowdowns.

If successful, the initiative could encourage further localization and technology transfer within Pakistan’s auto industry.

The development marks a notable step forward for the country’s industrial growth and expanding automotive ambitions.
