Customer Takes JazzCash to Consumer Court Over Mobile Package Issue, Demands Rs 2 Million

by Mahnoor Arif

A consumer in Islamabad has filed a case against JazzCash in the Consumer Court East over the alleged non activation of a weekly mobile package despite being charged through the app.

According to the petition, the customer was billed Rs 823 for the package, but the service was never activated. He claims the failed activation disrupted his communication and caused financial inconvenience. After several attempts to resolve the issue through customer support channels reportedly did not produce results, he approached the court seeking Rs 2 million in damages.

The petitioner has cited not only financial loss but also loss of trust and concerns related to digital transaction security. Consumer courts in Pakistan are empowered under provincial consumer protection laws to hear cases involving defective services, unfair trade practices, and misleading claims. Courts can direct companies to compensate consumers if negligence or service failure is proven.

The court has issued a notice to JazzCash, seeking a written response to the allegations. The matter will proceed once the company submits its reply.

Digital payment platforms have expanded rapidly across Pakistan in recent years, with millions relying on mobile wallets for bill payments, transfers, and telecom services. However, complaints related to failed activations, unexplained deductions, and delayed refunds have also surfaced on consumer forums and social media.

Legal experts say such cases underline the growing importance of strong customer support systems and regulatory oversight as fintech services become central to daily transactions.
