PTCL Group Reports Rs. 9.7 Billion Loss in 2025 Despite Strong Mobile and Broadband Growth

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited has reported a net loss of Rs 9.7 billion for the year 2025. The loss mainly came from higher credit loss provisions at its microfinance arm, Ubank, after new regulatory requirements. This marks another challenging year for the group at the consolidated level.

Despite the loss, the company showed strong growth in revenue. PTCL Group’s overall revenue increased by 12 percent compared to last year. The growth was largely driven by its high speed internet service, Flash Fibre, which recorded around 50 percent growth. Business solutions, including corporate and enterprise services, also grew by 16 percent.

The group’s consolidated operating profit rose sharply by 216 percent year on year. This shows improvement in core operations despite financial pressure from Ubank.

Ufone, the mobile arm of the group, posted 14 percent revenue growth. It reported an operating profit of Rs 17.6 billion and reduced its net losses by 89 percent, showing significant recovery.

PTCL’s standalone operating profit increased to Rs 18.2 billion. After adjusting for one time pension liabilities, the company recorded a net profit of Rs 1.4 billion at the operating company level.

Industry experts say the results reflect strong performance in broadband and mobile services, even though financial adjustments and regulatory changes affected overall profitability.
