The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mohammad Sohail Afridi, has announced a Rs 200 billion special development package for Hazara Division. The plan includes Rs 50 billion dedicated to tourism projects, aiming to promote the region’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Hazara is known for its scenic valleys, mountains, and historic sites. Areas such as Abbottabad, Mansehra, and surrounding hill stations attract thousands of visitors each year. The new investment is expected to improve roads, tourist facilities, and public services, helping increase visitor numbers and create local jobs.
The Chief Minister has called for a consultative meeting with elected representatives to design practical and long term projects. He stressed that ongoing schemes must be completed on time so that people can see clear results. Transparency and proper use of public funds were also highlighted as key priorities.
One major infrastructure project under the package is the dualisation of the GT Road section between Haripur and Mansehra. This step is expected to improve traffic flow and support trade and tourism. The government has also approved district status for Allai, which may help improve local administration and development planning.
In addition to tourism, funds will support health, education, and development projects in less developed districts. Officials say the overall goal is balanced growth and better living standards for the people of Hazara.
