Karachi and Punjab on High Alert as Pakistan Retaliates Against Afghan Taliban

by Mahnoor Arif

Security has been tightened in Karachi and across Punjab after Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab Lil Haq in response to reported cross-border firing along the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border. Officials said the action followed what they described as unprovoked firing from Afghan Taliban forces near border areas.

Authorities in Karachi and Punjab have increased security at important locations. Police presence has been strengthened at mosques, foreign embassies, government buildings, and other sensitive sites. Checkpoints have been set up on major roads, and security forces are conducting search and surveillance operations in different areas as a precaution.

In Balochistan, especially in the Chaman district near the Afghan border, emergency measures have also been taken. Hospitals have been placed on high alert. Extra medical staff have been called in, and additional medicines and blood supplies have been arranged to handle any possible emergency.

Officials say these steps are preventive and aimed at ensuring public safety. Citizens have been advised to remain calm and report any suspicious activity to authorities. Border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have occurred in the past, often linked to security concerns and militant activity in the region.

Security analysts note that border stability is important for regional peace and trade. The government has stated that it will continue to protect its territory while also seeking diplomatic channels to reduce tensions and maintain stability in the area.
